MISSOURI CITY, TX – High praise for our class act of the week, Hightower High School’s, Daniel Ward.

The Senior drum major has excelled in the music department for the past four years.

He plays jazz guitar, the flute, and he helps lead the band as a drum major.

Daniel says, “If you’re doing something, be the best that you can be at it. Don’t settle for whatever you do.”
Daniel practices what he preaches since he’s proven to be one of the best soloists as well. Don’t take our word for it.

The Texas State Solo/Ensemble contest judged him to be one of the 252 best,  especially impressive once you realized this was from a pool of over 18,000 entries.

Daniel is not all about the music though. He’s an Eagle Scout, earning his Merit badge and he’s also the team captain for the swim team.

His grades in the classroom are also making a splash.

But, music is his love and so he’s wanting to major in music performance. His first choice would be the University of Cincinnati, but he’s also looking at University of Houston, Baylor, Arizona State and Florida State.
Daniel credits band director, Robert Jackson to making the band feel like a family.

Daniel says, “I’m going to miss it a lot . I feel like since I got here my freshman year, I kind of found myself in high school with this band program.”
