WASHINGTON, D.C. – A decision of ‘Four More Years’ may have brought out the softer side of President Obama, but forget those ‘warm and fuzzy’ feelings.
The honeymoon phase is over!!
And that means focusing on issue number one: The economy, stupid!
“At the end of this year, we face a series of deadlines that require us to make major decisions about how to pay our deficit down,” said President Obama.
That January deadline is known as the fiscal cliff, when $64 Billion in automatic spending cuts take effect, along with the end of the ‘Bush-era tax cuts’.
“We have to combine spending cuts with revenue. And that means asking the wealthiest of americans to pay a little more in taxes.”
Try telling that to Republicans.
“Raising tax rates will slow down our ability to create the jobs that everyone says they want,” said House Speaker John Boehner.
President Obama promised that he’s open to new ideas and compromise, but…
“I am not going to ask students and seniors and middle class families to pay down the entire deficit while people like me, making over $250,000 aren’t asked to pay a dime more in taxes.”
Geez! And we thought the election was a battle!
