An early morning accident near Katy sent 4 children to the hospital with life threatening injuries, after the driver of the Jeep Liberty they were riding in ran a red light and was hit by another vehicle.

The Houston Police Department says 22-year-old Lourdes Lopez was driving northbound on Fry Road when she ran the light at the intersection of the Katy Freeway feeder.

That’s when her vehicle was struck by a silver Dodge Ram pickup, ejecting a 9-year-old boy from the Jeep.

Three other children in the Jeep, ages 1, 7 and 12, were taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Lopez and a 45-year-old male passenger were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

There is no word on the condition of the occupants of the Dodge.

Police said Lopez will be facing charges because she may have been intoxicated.
