AUSTIN, TX – Longhorns usually flying high were a little low today as a Texas legend was laid to rest.
Hall of Fame football coach Darrell Royal was remembered by more than 1,500 people including former players, coaches, UT staff and even politicians. The Frank Erwin Center is usually packed with concert goers or graduating students; was full of mourning colleagues.
Royal, 88-years-old, died from complications of Cardiovascular Disease. He was one of the most successful college football coaches of all time, never having a losing season and leading the University of Texas to 3 National Championships.
Longhorn opponents beware, not only are the eyes of Texas upon you, but now so are Darrell Royals.
