HOUSTON – Just days before Thanksgiving, justice was served.

Jessica Tata was found guilty of felony murder. She was sentenced to 80 years in prison and won’t be eligible for parole for 40 years. She was also fined $10,000.

Tata is the former daycare worker who was found guilty of murder in connection to the deadly fire that killed four children back in 2011. Authorities say Tata left up the seven children alone at her home daycare while she went shopping on that fateful day.

The guilty verdict and sentencing was in the case of one of the children, 16-month-old Elias Castillo. He, along with three others, died in the fire. Tata still faces three more counts of felony murder for the other three victims.

Finally, a bit of closure with a verdict where no one really wins.
