President Obama has Mitt Romney over for lunch
WASHINGTON, DC – There are some places in this world when you have your political rival for lunch, your political rival is lunch.
Mitt muffins and Romney roast were not on the menu for President Obama’s White House lunch with Mitt Romney, which is probably one reason Romney was smiling when he arrived.
Except for a trip to Disneyland, and down to the corner gas station to fill up the limo, we haven’t seen much of the Republican candidate for President since election night when he made a quick hello to say goodbye.
Also on election night, President Obama made a promise that he actually kept.
‘In the weeks ahead, I also look forward to sitting down with Gov. Romney to talk about what we can do together to move this country forward,’ the president said.
At a post-election news conference, the president hinted at what they would talk about.
‘I do think he did a terrific job running the Olympics.’
That could mean a lot of things, especially as the President and Congress push the nation toward the fiscal cliff.
They could talk about bobsledding, a Winter Olympics sport where you rush headlong down the side of a mountain, screaming in fear the entire way.
Or ice hockey, where people go at each other with sticks and blades.
Or the biathlon, where taking pot shots can earn you big points.
We don’t know yet what went down when the two of them finally got together, but it was probably more exciting than a curling match.
