NEW YORK, NY – You know it, you love it, you can’t get enough of it. ‘Casablanca’, that is.

Dooley Wilson’s piano from the 1942 film classic has a new owner. Sotheby’s New York put the piano on the auction block. A private collector purchased it for $602,500.

Sotheby’s expected between $800,000 and $1.2 million. A Japanese investor bought it back in 1988 for $154,000.

The piano made a couple of brief appearances in the film, during the flashback scene in Paris.

It was not the one on which Wilson, or Sam, played ‘As Time Goes By’, which was the same one the Nazi’s played during the stirring ‘La Marseillaise’ scene.

Even so, we’re sure this sale will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
