When we hear ‘polio’ most of us don`t panic… after all that`s a disease of the past right?

In Pakistan the polio threat is very much alive and efforts to stop the spreading disease are now on hiatus. Nine health workers going door to door to give the Polio vaccine to Pakistani children have been killed possibly by the Taliban. Though the terrorists are denying the murders, they have aggressively threatened to kill those involved with the vaccination campaign before.

The goal of health workers was to pass out the vaccine to 18.5 million children, nearly 15 million were reached before the killings happened and the government shut it down. The Pakistani government says they plan to try the vaccines again in January.
