USA – Some people just have an insatiable sweet tooth. If you’re among those of us with a second stomach for sweets, and also happen to be on active duty fighting the battle of the bulge don’t automatically assume its sugar making you fat.
For the first time scientists have been able to show that fructose, a sugar that’s in pretty much everything we eat, can trigger brain changes that may lead to overeating. Basically, researchers say after drinking a fructose beverage the brain doesn’t register the feeling of being full very well.
Before you go throwing away all the leftover sweet treats from the holidays, remember this is a small study and doesn’t prove fructose can cause obesity.
Let’s get back to basics and forget all the fancy science stuff. We don’t need a doctor to tell us whether it’s from the sugar, or the overeating… if you’re over weight, cut out the sweets.
