HOUSTON, TX – January 26th; do you have it marked on your calendars? That’s officially Election Day! Don’t worry, there’s no re-count in the works, it’s the election that will decide who’s going to take the late Senator Mario Gallegos’ Senate seat representing District 6.

The two most recognizable contenders, State Rep Carol Alvarado and former Harris County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia, along with a few other familiar faces showed up at the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in anticipation of the final countdown, since early voting starts Wednesday.

Candidates spoke one on one with members of the HHCC discussing their platforms, and finding out what these constituents are really concerned about. Because ignorance may be bliss in some cases, but like JFK said, “the ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.”
