HOUSTON – It was a cool day in Houston. Perfect weather for a jog in the park, or if you were part of the Tar Sands Blockade, it was a perfect day for a protest!

More than 100 people gathered outside the offices of TransCanada on Post Oak Boulevard, all agreeing on one thing, that the Keystone Pipeline that the company is helping fund is a bad idea. But what exactly is the Keystone Pipeline?

“It’s an 1,800 mile pipeline that’ll run from Montana to New Orleans,’ said protestor Tyler Hess. ‘We’re worried about the pollution, the climate change and the carbon dioxide that could come from this project.”

Two people were reportedly arrested at the protest.

As for TransCanada, they say the project is still a go, and that it’s actually helping the U.S. out because it’s bringing thousands of jobs to our economy. But is a stronger economy really worth screwing up Mother Nature? If you’re with the Tar Sands Blockade, the answer is definitely no!
