HOUSTON, TX – Old hats, new hats. There’s a hat for every person, every style, every occasion and every weather condition. In case you didn’t know it, today is national hat day.

From cowboys to hipsters, hats are certainly part of our culture. Charlie Chaplin, Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood – even though he’s now into chairs – are some of many Hollywood icons who knew how to wear their hats very well. But there is one hat trying to go the extra mile.

Fast-food chain Arby’s is urging customers to sign a White House petition designating the ten-gallon-hat “America’s first and only official national hat”.  Promoting your own logo as a national memorabilia sounds like great PR; and of course we took the bait.

What a great celebration! So many heads have been kept warm or protected from the sun thanks to this marvelous apparel. So many flirtations started with well decorated hats. There’s no doubt those who invented the hat were using their heads.
