Great plate auction: Houston Auto show
The License plate on your car may be good, but it’s probably not great. Unless you were one of the lucky few who got to bid on some Great Plates from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.
My Plates just auctioned off some of the most coveted plates in the city, and they didn’t go for cheap.
Houston car dealer Chris Gillman spent $25,000 for the HOUSTON plate, making his plate the most expensive in the state. The winning bid beats the previous record holder of $15,000 in Dallas for FERRARI.
Ten vanity plates sold for more than $68,000 at the auction. The money raised will go to an employee scholarship fund for the Houston Automobile Dealers Association.
