The death of a parent is something no child should ever witness, but it happened Friday night to a family in the Montrose area.

Houston police say they were called to a home on Portsmouth after someone knocked on the door, and then opened fire on the man who answered it.

That man, a successful business man who recently sold a beer company in Pasadena, died in the doorway.

His three children and two neighbor kids, who were sleeping over, may have witnessed his death.

Police, who say this doesn’t appear to be a random attack, are now searching for answers.

They also say since it appears to be an isolated event, neighbors shouldn’t be afraid of similar attacks.

But it’s hard not to be on edge after something this horrific happens in your neighborhood.
