BRYAN, TX – Firefighters are used to putting themselves in the line of danger when responding to a call, but on Friday night one call proved to be fatal for a Bryan, Texas firefighter.

Fire Lieutenant Eric Wallace, 36, was killed in the line of duty at a fire that broke out at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Fire officials say the fire was so intense, part of the building’s roof collapsed while the firefighters were still inside.

Wallace was rescued by another team of firefighters and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Three other firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.

Wallace had been with the fire department for nearly 13 years.

The fire is still under investigation.

Funeral arrangements for Wallace are pending.
