HOUSTON – Anyone who’s gone for a jog at Memorial Park in the summers knows that it’s hot as hell! But the area had recently been plagued with another type of hot streak.

Investigators with the Houston Fire Department and the Spring Branch ISD Police Department says since this past December, a series of intentional fires had been set along an area near Memorial Drive at Dairy Ashford. The rash of fires continued well into the New Year.

Luckily, no one was ever hurt. And after a few months of investigating and cross-checking with other agencies, investigators noticed a common detonator: two names. The name Xavier McKnight and a juvenile.

Investigators say when they checked their records they discovered that the same juvenile was a suspect in a string of fires back in 2011.

After yet another string of fires, authorities finally had enough for an arrest warrant.

‘Within one hour of having the warrant signed, both Xavier and the 16-year-old juvenile were in custody.’

Charges are still pending, but for now it looks like they got a hot catch!
