Paul McIlhenny, Tabasco CEO dies at 68
AVERY ISLAND, LA – Paul McIlhenny, the head of the Tabasco empire, is dead at just 68-years old. According to the Time-Picayune in New Orleans, it looks like he died of a heart attack less than a month shy of his birthday.
At the time of his death, McIlhenny was the CEO, director and chairman of the board of the beloved sauce company. He became a fourth-generation family member to produce tabasco out of Avery Island, Louisiana when he joined in 1967.
His family described him as a “true bon vivant.’ He liked to hunt, cook and drink wine. Hey, that sounds like a winning combination to us.
Here on earth, a legend is gone. But we bet the food just got a lot better in heaven.
