FORT WORTH, TX – The world of classical music has lost a great one. Classical pianist and North Texas native, Van Cliburn lost his battle with bone cancer at the age of 78. He died at his home in Fort Worth. And he went the only way one would want to go, surrounded by his loved ones.
Cliburn’s career skyrocketed after he won first place at the 1958 Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow.
Cliburn certainly knew his way around the ivories. Now all that’s left is the impact this classical pianist had on the music world, but there’s no doubt he’s somewhere out there still making sweet music.
