Student’s Sting Allegedly Catches Teacher Stealing from Students

Forget to catch a predator, how about to catch a teacher?!

A California high school student staged an undercover sting to catch a thief who had been stealing money from students’ backpacks. But to her surprise, Justine Betti caught a popular teacher!

Here’s how it all went down. Justine first hid in a gym locker in hopes of catching the crook red handed. When she saw that it was her very popular teacher and 30 year veteran she decided to set up a sting, this time having her cell phone camera ready.

She did not have to wait long… both video recordings made by Justine show the teacher opening several backpacks and methodically going through them.

“I didn’t want to believe that she would do something like that because she was so nice, but then she did it,” Betti told KXTV. “It was really scary. I was like ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I just got this on video.’”

The amateur sleuth took the incriminating evidence to the principal who promised to investigate but asked her to delete the video. Too late, Justine had already sent it to her dad.

The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending an inquiry by the Linden School District and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department.

It will be up to the district attorney to file criminal charges against the popular educator.

When presented with Justine’s footage, the teacher’s sister confirmed her identity, but said that it appears that she is looking for something in the bags rather than stealing cash, WZZM reported.

“She would never steal,” the sister said. “She doesn’t need the money.”

If this teacher did in fact steal from students she deserves a big fat F for FIRED! And the student deserves an A for teaching her teacher a lesson.

And that’s today’s helping of The Online Dish with Maggie.
