THE WOODLANDS, TX – If you’re wondering where the stench is coming from, look no further than the Xtreme Volleyball team in The Woodlands.
They’re not that stinky anymore, but for a week the young ladies went on a shower strike.
It was all for a good cause.
Player Brynnly Cuadra said it was “to raise money for kids in Africa because they are less fortunate than us, and they don’t have clean running water.”
The stats are shocking: Every 15 second, a child in Africa dies from waterborne illness.
“They realized every dollar that someone is giving us is saving a life,” said Brynnly’s mom, Trava Cuadra.
With a little help from social media, the girls raised more than $4,500 through the non-profit Well Aware.
The girls say they will absolutely make this smelly fund-raiser an annual thing.
