It’s the deadliest attack on Americans in Afghanistan so far, as two separate attacks killed six people on Saturday.

One of those was Anne Smedinghoff, the first foreign diplomat killed on duty since the September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi.  On Sunday, Secretary of State John Kerry spoke about the 25-year-old, who had been his embassy guide when he visited Afghanistan in March.

“She was someone who worked hard and put her life on the line so that others could live a better life.”  sad Kerry.

Three soldiers and an American civilian were also killed in the blast, while another American civilian was killed during an insurgent attack.
