PEMBROKE PINES, FL – A father and son canoeing trip turned into a nightmare, and a 6-year-old kid is lucky to be alive and in one piece.

Joey Welch went out to Boynton Beach, Florida with his dad. For a slight moment he wandered off and stumbled into the waters. But little did Joey know that in the midst of the shallow water, there was a cold-blooded predator. An alligator took grip of Joey.

Joey’s dad heard him scream and quickly went to his rescue. He grabbed the gator and started punching it. Another person heard the commotion and went to help. They were able to free Joey from the gator’s grip.

Amazingly, Joey walked away from the whole thing with just a few scrapes and bruises.
