Since the Astros aren’t giving us much to “Root. Root. Root.” for, there’s a special sporting event you can take a bite out of Sunday.

Joey Chesnut is the world’s top-ranked eater. He’s facing his biggest rival, Matt Stonie, in a gyro eating contest of epic “portions.”

“It’s gonna be ten minutes of all you can eat gyros, and I’ll put ’em down,” said Chesnut.

Stonie was last year’s runner-up, and he’s already beaten Chesnut once this year, so serious bragging rights are at stake (and $5,000).

It’s goin’ down at Niko Niko’s as part of Houston’s Greek Fest.

“It’s gonna be the biggest one I think that we’ve ever had,” said Niko Niko’s owner Dimitri Fetokakis.

First bite is at 2 p.m.

Come early, and come hungry.
