Jif or Gif? Founder of .Gif Officially Declares How It's Pronounced

gifNEW YORK, NY – If you’re on the internet, you’ve seen those little animated pictures before. They’re called GIFs.

But there’s been a long heated debate on how you pronounce it. Some people say ‘GIF’ others say ‘JIF.’

Well the creator of the GIF, Steve Wilhite won a Webby Award for his creation, and instead of giving a speech, he made a GIF that simply said, ‘It’s pronounced JIF, not GIF.’
