carHOUSTON, TX – We’ve all had those day when you feel like the world’s against you, and sometimes those are the breaks. However, had one driver hit said breaks before running into the back end of a stopped police car, he wouldn’t have ended up in handcuffs and the officer wouldn’t have ended his shift on a stretcher.

Houston Police Department Sergeant Tim Trometer told NewsFix the officer had stopped a vehicle on a routine traffic stop. When the officer got out to speak to the driver of the vehicle, another vehicle came up from behind and struck the officers car from the rear, which pushed the officers car into the other vehicle stopped by traffic, as well as hitting the officer.

Fortunately, the officer and other driver were not seriously hurt.

The guy who hit them from behind has DWI charges pending.

For what should’ve been a run-of-the-mill traffic stop, that cop got way more than he bargained for.
