crocDARWIN, AUSTRALIA – When you think about a hostage situation, you probably don’t picture a crocodile as the bad guy.

But Ryan Blair of New Zealand says he was stranded on a remote Australian island for more than two weeks, because a massive reptile wouldn’t let him kayak away as planned.

“This crocodile was following me,” he said.

Apparently every time Blair got his boat into the water, the crocodile appeared. Not wanting to be lunch, he eventually stopped trying.

The good news is a boat passing by noticed a light on the island, which ultimately led to Blair getting rescued.  It happened just in time. He had less than 2 liters of water left.

Talk about a vacation that bites.
