Klein Oak’s Kevin Zhao is stringing together a melody of success that has landed him as our class act of the week.
Ledford says, “Kevin has been part of the Klein Oak orchestra program for the last four years and started playing cello in his eight grade year, and since then has flourished. He made all-state and symphony all-state in his sophomore year.”
Zhao says, “There is something extremely rewarding about being part of a group that makes music because everyone has to be on the exact same page at all times.”
Zhao has more than just musical talent. He is in the top two percent of his class., he excels in AP courses and is the president of the National Honor Society.
So where does Zhao hope to continue his studies?
“Right now my number one choice is the University of Chicago because they have a really prestigious economics program there and that’s what I eventually want to specialize myself in.”
Zhao is more than just numbers though as he is a member of the French club and French honor society. This past summer he got to experience French culture first hand.
“I won a scholarship for a free three-week trip to France from Texas French Symposium and that allowed me to go to France and stay with a French family for one week and sort of live like they live and then two weeks in the south at a university taking French courses for the remainder of those three weeks.”
Zhao is hitting all the right notes in life so far.
“Basically the sky is the limit as far as what he wants to do in his future.”
