NEW YORK, NY – Before Miley Cyrus was a wrecking ball, she infected the world with her twerking. She wasn’t the first to do it, but she brought this fabulous trend to the forefront of our nightmares.

Big Freedia wanted to take it a step further. She’s a rapper from New Orleans, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen Diva of New Orleans Bounce.’

She took to the streets of New York, with 358 of her biggest fans to break the world record for the world record for the most people twerking simultaneously in one sport.

Guinness officials were also there to make sure all the rules were followed.

And they broke the record, or so they thought.

Turns out, back in August, during the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, hosts Lucy Hale and Darren Criss participated in a world-breaking twerk session with 1,945 people. Officials with Recordsetter.com were there to make that one official.

So who really broke the record? Who cares!

Can we just bring planking back and pretend this never happened.
