AUSTIN, TX – Wendy Davis and her pink running shoes made headlines earlier this year with her 13-hour filibuster in the Texas Legislature to delay an anti-abortion vote.

Now the State Senator from Fort Worth may be planning on using those shoes for a different kind of race.

Democratic sources are saying Davis plans to run for governor of Texas.

Rick Perry, who’s been the head honcho in Austin for the past 14 years, announced earlier this year he’s not going to run again.

Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott has already begun his campaign for the title.

While there’s no official word from Davis just yet, the sources said the Democrat will make a formal announcement next week.

Texas hasn’t had a Democratic governor since Ann Richards back in the 90’s.
