SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Maybe nothing says “thank you” quite like a free beer!

A pub owner in Australia is giving out free brews to firefighters. It’s in response to their ongoing efforts in battling a wildfire roughly the size of Los Angeles.

Not everyone thinks the move is in good taste. Still, the state’s police minister is asking for naysayers to give it a break.

“Show some common sense and a bit of fair play to communities that are trying to work out how they can give back to the local firefighters — in simple ways such as offering a free beer,” says Mike Gallacher, Police Minister of Catherine Hill Bay.
