LARISSA, GREECE – A Roma gypsy couple in Greece has been charged with abducting a little girl known only as Maria.

Police said they deal with the Roma people all the time, but got suspicious when they noticed the blond haired blue eyed 5 or 6-year-old didn’t look like the couple who claimed to be her parents.

A DNA test, and the fact that the couple kept changing their story about how they got her, confirmed their suspicions.

The 40-year-old woman and her 39-year-old husband have now been charged with abducting Maria and remain in pre-trial custody.

Thousands of calls and emails have been pouring in to the ‘Smile of the Child’ charity which is caring for the girl.

They hope one of those leads will help this little traveler find her way home.
