HOUSTON, TX – The football world said goodbye to Bud Adams, the man Houston football fans loved to hate and hated to love.
Adams died last week at his River Oaks home.
He was one of the founders of the American Football League, and owner of the former Houston Oilers until he moved the team to Tennessee after 36 years and rechristened it the Titans.
Houston’s Second Baptist Church was the site for the memorial service where family, friends, and former players gathered for their last goodbye.
Adams picked up his team and moved it to Nashville, but he always called Houston his home, and, in some kind of pigskin irony, there was no memorial service for him in Music City, USA.
