ENGLEWOOD, CO – When was the last time you walked into a Blockbuster store?

The once popular video store has finally met its demise. The 300 remaining corporate owned stores around the country will shut their doors by January.

It’s been a rough few years for Blockbuster who went bankrupt in 2010 after racking up more than a billion dollars in debt. Dish Network came to the rescue but not even Blockbuster by mail or the blue box was enough to save the sinking ship. The blue and yellow ticket stub may still be around for a while though, it’ll just be through your TV and remote.

On-demand services for Dish customers aren’t getting the ax just yet.
