HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police and the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance want you to have the safest holiday shopping season possible, which is why they’re hosting demonstrations of how thieves are likely to strike while you’re shopping.

One of the most common cases is purse theft while gassing up your car.

The thief opens the passenger door, steals the purse and gently closes the door while you are pressing buttons at the pump.

A child in the car certainly won’t stop these thieves.

Officer Reginald Broughton with the Auto Theft Division says the main thing to do is keep your doors locked and be aware of your surroundings.

Theft is definitely not something you want to be a part of during the holidays.
