teddyEVANSVILLE, IN – You can call this story a beary special reunion just in time for the holidays.

Evansville police Sgt. Jason Cullum and 8-year-old Nikki Mayo are meeting for the first time.

Cullum actually rescued Mayo’s precious bear, Chocolate, from the middle of a busy highway. And, thankfully he was able to catch up with her and her family and return the prized ball of fluff.

Mayo’s had Chocolate since she was four, and you can bet Chocolate will never leave her sight again.

“We know the importance teddy bears play in society. They save the world sometimes. And, on that day the teddy bear needed saving,” said Sgt. Cullum.

Proof, that even when you’re all grown up, you can still be a kid at heart.
