SAN FRANCISCO, CA – You’d be surprised just how mean people can be in 140 characters or less. But if you’re having too much Twitter trouble, that’s where a nice little feature comes in handy…blocking.

Twitter was going to change its blocking policy, which would basically still allow you to block someone, but that person would just be “muted” from your tweets. If the person wanted, they’d still be able to read and re-tweet your tweets, you just wouldn’t know it.

Kind of defeats the whole purpose of blocking someone.

Twitter wasn’t ready for the backlash, and boy did they get plenty of it. So much, Twitter ultimately decided not to change the block function.
