HOUSTON, TX – What do cops and professional athletes have in common?

It’s an unlikely paring, but on Tuesday they joined forces to make local kid’s Christmas dreams come true.

Houston Police Department officers, Harris County deputies and Houston sports stars, past and present, took 20 kids on an all-out shopping spree.

Each little one teamed up with a cop or a jock and got $300 to spend on whatever they wanted at Target.

“I cherish the opportunity I have to work with Joel and be a part of his Christmas and bring him some type of joy because it brings me joy,” said Officer Prince with HPD.

“This time of the year can be tough for some families, and I think the little things that we can do in the community to bring everybody together this time of the year just makes it just that much more enjoyable,” said former Houston Dynamo Mike Chabala.

It was certainly a day that makes this holiday season one to remember.
