HARRIS COUNTY, TX – An overnight traffic stop on the northwest side of town turned out to be anything but routine for an off-duty sheriff’s deputy.

He found a man’s body inside a wrecked pickup truck in the 20000 block of Huffsmith-Kohrville Road.

“Huffsmith-Kohrville is a pretty narrow road. It only has two lanes. It’s also a very curvy road,” said Sgt. S. Wolverton with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Harris County Sheriff’s deputies say it appears the man was driving southbound, but, for some reason, crossed into a northbound lane on a curve near Willow Creek.

“There are warning signs that warn of the approaching curve, however, the truck was driving too fast to manipulate that curve,” said Sgt. Wolverton.

Deputies say the man died after hitting a tree.

There’s no word yet on why the man switched lanes and failed to slow down in the first place, but an investigation is underway.
