MAPLEWOOD, MN – Temperatures in the Midwest are cold enough to freeze skin in just 10 minutes, but the sub-zero weather isn’t all bad.

A Minnesota woman was saved by the sub-zero temperatures Tuesday morning when she got into a car crash, since the pond she landed on was completely frozen.

If it hadn’t been a complete block of ice, 54-year-old Anne Spiess may have found herself in an early watery grave.
