HOUSTON, TX – Houston, we have a problem. No, really. The Super Bowl is right around the corner and Kraft Foods has an announcement to make: They’re running short on Velveeta.

Yep. The gooey-cheesy goodness you use to make Aunt Edna’s famous cheese dip is in short supply. Turns out the company sold so much of the stuff during the college bowl games; there might not be enough to make it to Super Bowl Sunday.

The company says it’s a short-term situation that is more noticeable during the current period of increased seasonal demand.

In short: they’re short.

And while the company says they’re doing everything they can to resolve the issue, the question remains, what to do if it’s not on the shelves come game-day and you’re forced to cut the cheese?

“We order in,” Houstonian Malik Jose offers. “We order a lot of pizza, lot of Chinese food, whatever.”

“Go out to a sports bar,” Domingo Beltran suggests.

Hey, we didn’t say it was a big problem. Still, it’s the Super Bowl! Come on, Velveeta, what were you thinking?
