DEARBORN, MI – The typical ‘Built Ford Tough’ model is about to change.
The most popular car in America, the Ford F-150, is shedding some pounds.
The 2015 version of the F-150 will be about 700 pounds lighter due to the cab and bed being made mostly out of military-grade aluminum.
According to Ford, the aluminum body is stronger and more dent-resistant. The weight-loss allows the truck to accelerate faster and improves the fuel economy.
Ford is taking a risk by fixing what obviously isn’t broken where sales are concerned.
They’re hoping their loyal customers come along for the ride.
