Australian sharks get microchips for Twitter alerts

WESTERN AUSTRALIA COAST – Marine biologists in Australia have been attaching tiny transmitters to sharks off their coast. Those microchips send alerts to surfers through Twitter.

While the tool isn’t tremendously helpful if you’re already out in the waves (and not every shark is marked), it’s cool that no one needs to get bit in order to know that a predator is paddling by.

Fish and chips never sounded so good.
