WASHINTON, D.C. – Here’s a story that’s sure to pump you up.

A report from the Department of Health and Human Services says the government’s medicare program spent $172.4 million on, get this, penis pumps for seniors!

Now if you think we’re just pumpin’ ya full of hot air we’re not. Here’s the hard facts.

Between 2006 and 2011 there were 474,000 claims for vacuum erection systems. The yearly claims nearly doubled in cost from $20.6 million in 2006 to $38 million in 2011.

And what will really blow your mind is if the government had adjusted its payments to what non-medicare payers spend on the pumps, it would have saved about $14.4 million each year.

Wow, now that’s hard to swallow.

Seniors, stop making your fellow Americans foot the bill for your penile problems; because clearly, sometimes trying to be bigger, isn’t always better.
