HOUSTON, TX – Worthing High School head football coach Brandon Ellis says, “When he first came to us in the ninth grade. You could tell was a different type of student-athlete.”
Worthing High School teacher Danielle Shokes adds, “When he first came here, he was know as quote unquote geek, but when you simply heard people talk about you thought he would be a Steve Urkel, but instead you see a young man that is 200 pounds, really athletic and very charismatic.”
He is so charismatic Arthur Bradshaw is our Class Act of the Week.
Bradshaw says, “One subject I like doing is math. Just numbers, I like doing numbers.”
Bradshaaw has been able to post great numbers in high school. Whether on the football field as a linebacker, or on the basketball court as a forward, or in the class room as a student, he puts up big numbers.
Bradshaw says, “I’ve been captain since my 10th grade year and I kind of like make the calls as far as what we do on defense.”
“His work ethic stands out. I mean he’s going to push himself and pushes other guys. He’s a vocal leader . If you’re not doing what you’re supposed to do, he’s going to let you know about it. And when he speaks you listen.”
Bradshaw is a part of National Honor Society and has taken part in “Serving Sunny Side” a program designed to help those more unfortunate get a meal during Thanksgiving.
Bradshaw says, “It’s a great feeling to be able to give back at such a young age.”
Bradshaw has been an All-District twice and was runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year, but as decisive as he is on the field, he is taking his time to choose where he will go to college. Some of his choices are Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida and Oregon.
Bradshaw says, “I kind of want to stay home, but at the same time, I knod of want to explore. So I kind of want to be someplace different so that’s I’m thinking somewhere out of state. Someplace new and someplace where I can learn.”
