KATY, TX – A 27-year-old Katy man has been indicted for a hate crime.

Authorities say back in December, Conrad Barrett videotaped himself punching a 79-year-old black man as part of a “knockout game.” The indictment by a federal grand jury was handed down Thursday.

Barrett’s attorney is claiming his client suffers from bipolar, and was off his medication at the time of the video.

For now, Barrett is awaiting trial, so we won’t find out until later if that defense holds, or if Barrett will be knocked out with a hefty sentence.
