HOUSTON, TX – A car goes up in flames at Hobby Airport! False alarm, it’s only a drill.

The Red Cross, Houston Police Department and the Houston Fire Department took part in the mandatory exercises; which happens every three years. The airport also simulates a plane crash to evaluate emergency response.

Houston Airport System’s Communications director, David Herbert says, “We wanna find out how the first responders are reacting, how they’re communicating with one another, how they’re handling the situation. After it’s all over with we’ll all get together and evaluate what went well and what we need to improve on.”

Houston, this one may be a drill but the next one may not.
