They show up to school wearing short shorts and saggy pants. No I’m not talking about students; I’m talking about the parents at Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, FL.

One school board member is sick of seeing it. So much so that Rosalind Osgood wants to enforce a dress code for the parents.

At a recent school board meeting she says that the principal tries to enforce a strict dress code for students. But that makes it hard when she sees parents show at school in pajamas, curlers, and saggy pants.

“It’s hard for me to tell a child not to show up for school with hair curlers, pajamas or short shorts if they see parents wearing them,” Osgood says.

Osgood realizes that it’s unlikely the district could enforce an parent dress code but she thinks it should be addressed during Parent Night.

I understand sometimes you’re running late and you have to throw your sweat pants on with your night gown or slippers. Or maybe you have your curlers still in your hair. But there’s no excuse for saggy pants or bootie shorts. Parents need to lead by example.
