HOUSTON, Texas – 5 de Mayo, fiesta grande!  It looks like everybody’s getting a kick out of this Mexican holiday.  Students, parents and teachers from The Varnett Public School got together to shake their bones and celebrate a defining moment in Mexico’s history.

According to historians, by defeating the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, the Mexican army boosted their national unity and prevented the Confederate States from getting reinforcements, an act that could have potentially changed the fate of the American Civil War.  Although, for the young kids at this school, 5 de Mayo means an opportunity to be proud of their culture and heritage.

Now, tell me the truth, after watching so much cuteness and happiness, don’t you wanna leave whatever it is you’re doing and go dancing?
