TISUL, SIBERIA – There are all sorts of treasures just sitting underwater and apparently pieces of history, too.
While fishing in a river in Siberia Nikolay Tarasov reeled in something we’re sure he wasn’t fishing for, a rare and extremely old statue.
Nikolay almost tossed the artifact back into the water, but decided to take a closer look instead.
Turns out, the unusually shaped statue was a 4,000-year-old pagan god!
How’s that for ancient?
It may not seem like much, but reports say the bronze age figurine is worth more than if it was made of gold. Rather than trying to cash in on his find Nikolay gave the statue to the local museum.
He says it’s important for people to learn the history of their country.
Guess it’s true what they say; one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
