NORTHFIELD, MN – Earning your high school or college diploma is a proud milestone.
But getting them both in the same week? That’s pretty much unheard of unless you’re David Greer.
The home schooled Northfield, Minn., teen earned his associate’s degree as an 11th grader, then enrolled full time at the University of Minnesota Morris as a high school senior.
He described it as a “fun challenge.” “Fun” is probably debatable, but “challenge” sounds spot on.
Of course, skipping the social side of college isn’t for everyone.
But Greer is just ready to get out into the real world.
“I figured out the more quickly I could get through it and get on with my life, get a job, get through, you know, that’s the best way to do it,” he said.
And — try to hold back the jealousy — he even managed to graduate debt-free. Not so easy to do these days!
At the tender age of 18, Greer is currently looking for a job as an actuary. Most of us don’t even know what that is and this teenager’s set on being one.
For the record, an actuary analyzes the financial consequences of risk. We’re sure there’s nothing risky about betting on this guy’s successful future!
